Overlooking Gustavia Harbor, Bonito is the latest of chic terrace lounges offering a mixed scene of dining and late-night drinks. Taking queue from the little bistro of St. Germain du Pre, visitors arrive to a tranquil island-inspired space of mostly white decor and steady roll of electronic music by a finicky staff of local scene mavens that rotate I Pod soundtracks and nightly DJ line-up. An outdoor terrace is the best seat in the place, with long banquette of fluffy pillows and white tablecloth tables from which to enjoy a late 10pm dinner and sulk into a night of impromptu dances amongst a clientele of fashionable locals.
The Food
One of the best ceviche bars on the island includes locally caught-fish and shellfish specialties served in crisp porcelain and glass serving dishes. Dinner is not a formal affair, serving a medley of bite size specialties ranging from fish tacos and pasta dishes to more elaborate Asian appetizers and French meat entrees of chicken and beef. The restaurant is still a work in progress, at least the menu, but it’s definitely drawing a top-notch clientele looking to avoid the more-hyped locales of Gustavia.
Last Word
Ceviche bar offers casual dining and late-night lounge scene reminiscent of St. Tropez’s Papagayo.
